What is 3g and should I switch services for it? Hello, my cell phone contract is about to end this month so I am planning on getting a new phone. I was also thinking about switching to Verizon (Have ATT right now) because they have the best phones. There's been a lot of talk about 3g. What is 3g? Does my phone that I bought 2 years ago get 3g? It says 3g on the home screen. Is it even that important? Should I switch because Verizon claims to have more 3g coverage?

3G refers to the third generation of mobile telephony based on, cellular technology. The third generation, as the name suggests, follows two earlier generations. It is faster for data video and voice call. Definitely you should buy a 3G handset or take the service of 3G from a reputed service provider like Verizon.
