TW govt steps up Hakka education

Post by James Campbell »

The Taiwanese government fears that its Hakka-speaking children are losing their language and has already started bilingual education (ie. Mandarin and Hakka) in many schools. If you're interested, here is a link that goes into more detail:

You probably have to highlight the link, copy it (mouse-right click menu option or CTRL-C) and paste it (CTRL-V) into your browser address line.

Dear James,

To make a hyperlink just put the entire url between the "less than" and the "greater than" symbols.

Oh yeah, I have heard that some of the polititians in TW are Hakka speakers, and actually speak in Hakka when making their speeches.

Well. actually even if Hakka language dies in Taiwan, mainland China still has pretty many locations of this dialect. Taiwan Hakka derived from East Guangdong 300-400 years ago. There is not a big gap between them two.
