Identifying An Unknown Word

Our daughter, adopted from Gaozhou, Guangdong Province at 14 months, spoke one word, which sounded like "gy-ee", a hard g and a rising tone on the second syllable. She spoke it when she was hungry or thirsty.

Does anyone recognize these sounds or what dialect the word might be from?
