Instructional Books

Post by grofflaw »

I am a new member to this site.

I have been listing numerous classic instructional books I still have from my Chinese classes at the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale in 1959 and from other sources at www.craigslist.com (for Rhode Island)
For example, Fred Wang's Introduction to Chinese Cursive Script (1958 original spiral bound edition) and other authors and spiral bound Yale books such as Chinese Characters Easily Confused, Read Chinese, Newspaper Chinese and 1972's Lin Yutang's Chinese-English Dictionary. Some of these books are difficult to find but they are still classic and great instructional tools. (I am almost tempted to hold onto them and have been brushing up on my long dormant fluency). But I have retired and I need the space. I put them up for sale way below what the market for them seems to be at some book sites. You can see what I have listed thus far at craigslist if you are interested or contact me at grofflaw@hotmail.com.
It should be noted that the Yale books use the so-called Yale romanization which was found to be the quickest way to teach Chinese to English-speaking individuals, since the romanization closely resemble sound that could be found in English. At Yale, however, we also learned Wade-Giles, etc.
I am located in Rhode Island, USA.
