My friend needs help. He wants a good word for "honor" and he asked me if 名譽 was a good one (to which I said no). The problem is, he doesn't understand the Asian concept of honor and I don't know how to explain it to him except that it's not the same as the Western view of honor/reputation.

Any good words/phrases for honor that I should give him? And any help on how to explain how we see honor?

You say that "he doesn't understand the Asian concept of honor." Perhaps you ought to evaluate your own understanding, or lack of understanding, of what you refer to as the "Asian concept of honor." If you did have any understanding or wisdom whatsoever, you should at least be able to begin explaining or elucidating this concept to others.
