Jiang (river) surname only Hakka?

Post by xiaojian »

I'm wondering if Jiang (river) is only a Hakka surname, because in my grandfather's clan association based in Rangoon, Burma, there are only Hakka members. All Hakkas with the last name Jiang spell it Kong.

The simple answer is no. I know a woman who is non-Hakka with that surname. Doesn't Jiang Zemin the former president of China have Shanghai connections?

Are you a hakka from Burma? I am a hakka origin from Burma. I wanna know more imformation about hakkas from burma. I think i have lost all my hakka traditions as my grandparents don't practice anymore. We go only fujian temple in rangoon. I never know whether there is a hakka temple or not. Only fujian and guangdong make the majority of chinese community in Rangoon. If you know more about hakka imformation from Burma, pls share us. Many thanks :D
