I obtained a table screen made from jadite in Beijing in 1986. It was covered with "lamp black" so you could not tell what it was. I believe that it is a "scholar's screen", but that is only a guess. The front has a carved scene in bra relief that shows a standard type of mandarin scene, but the obverse has a writing of some sort carved into it. I have been told that it is a poem, but thus far no one has been able to translate it because they say that the characterers are no longer used. I will sent a jpeg of the screen if anyone thinks thay can help in its translation.
