Hanyu Pinyin is the phonetic romanisation of Chinese 'Hanzi' (the characters). 我 = wo3 (that's wo spoken in the third tone of chinese).

我爱你 - this should be wo3 ai ni3 - wo ai ni. I don't really know what the tone is for ai, and I don't know if that's the right character even since I've not learnt the word yet.

Of course, if you actually try and just read pinyin to a chinese person they'd probably look at you quite funny since a lot of words can sound quite different to the way they look. 生 sheng1 [high tone] can sound closer to shung....

"Hello" = 你好 / ni hao
"My name is Ana" = 我叫Ana / wo jiao Ana

The others I'm not certain enough to share without my books next to me.

I need help with learning Mandarin, i am a serving police officer and am trying to get a posting for Manchester City Centre in order to work with the Chinese Community there.
