No, she speaks hoisaan wa and cantonese (and mandarin). And he lives with his grandma, mother, father, and uncle, who dont speak very good English so he grew with Cantonese as him first language and learned English in school (did I mention that we're American?)
What I was trying to get at with my first post was, what does this hoisaan accent change on the cantonese language, i.e. toisaan to hoisaan? The only thing I've been able to find out is that h's sometimes replace t's

Dear Keldjoran,
A lot of characters pronounced with an initial sound of ch in Cantonese is pronounced with an initial sound of t in Taishan hua.

Your friend should be able give you more examples.
