Hello;
I am working on a design (not a tattoo, by the way.) It will be a graphic representation of my name, and I'd like to include Chinese characters in it's development. I am not Chinese, however there are aspects of the Chinese culture that I have tried to include in my way of life.
I have found several characters the definitions of which I think are appropriate, and I am interested in the opinions of people who speak Chinese of my choices: what is important to me is not a phonetic translation, but rather a translation of meaning... If a Chinese family wanted to name their male child "brought from the earth by the hand of God" type of thing...
Thank you for taking the time to read my post; I hope that I have been able to express the consideration I feel for those of you who are deeply offended when people outside of your culture look for their name translated into Chinese so they can ink it on their ass- this is not my intent.
That said:
The literal Hebrew translations of Adam I've found: "man," "to be red," (Assyrian adamu) "to make," "created from the earth by God (Hebrew adamah "earth")
Links to Chinese characters I have found and believe are appropriate:

English translation: "[1] red [2] ochre"

English translation: "red colored hard and solid mud (soil; clay; earth)" listed as a character that is rarely used

English translation: "[1] [v] build (out of earth, rock, etc.0; erect [2] building; house; room"
Thank you,
Adam

Re: seeking the opinion of those who speak Chinese
I suppose I could have been a little more specific- I am looking for your opinion, in English please.
Re: seeking the opinion of those who speak Chinese
Would it be nice if you use亞當in your design?
Actuallym, it(亞當)means Adam.

Re: seeking the opinion of those who speak Chinese
Thank you- when you say it means Adam, are you saying that those are the characters that represent the phonetic pronunciation?
Also, would you tell me which characters they are?
