Hello everyone,
Merry Christmas (for those of us who celebrate it) and a Happy Solar New Year (I use the term because the Chinese New Year is sometimes called the "Lunar New Year") to everyone here.
I wish Peace and Happiness to all the readers of this forum.

Re: "Season's Greetings"
Everyone from everywhere,
Merry Christmas and Happy Ang Mor New Year! Sim said that some people refer Chinese new year to lunar new year and western new year to solar new year, but lots of Penang people say ang mor sin3 chia1 and sin chia for western n chinese new year respectiveley.
I don't know how to say Merry Christmas in Hokkien, so I will leave it in English.
I wish everybody a satisfying festival.
Greetings from Middlesbrough

Hong,
I wonder if there is something strange going on with your browser settings? Your postings seem to end up under random unrelated topics!

Re: "Season's Greetings"
Dear Sim,
my browser is okay. How can I start another topic to reply about haitingtin(engwai haven't started penang 2 yet). That old penang topic is too long. The topic season's greeting by you have nothing to do with minnan studies but a link to Prom.Lim Lian Tong will help us to understand yongchun language. It is a great lost if you can't read his article.

Re: "Season's Greetings"
Hi Hong,
Yes, it's terrible that I cannot read Chinese characters, but I'm taking steps to fix that now. I started Mandarin classes in September last year, and I'll be continueing with Beginners Part 2 in mid-January again.
In 10 years, I'll be able to read these linguistic articles in Chinese, about Hokkien. I look forward to that, but it's still a long way away.
Cheers,
Sim.

Re: "Season's Greetings"
I don't how those people ancestors who were from longxi should call themselves because there are no more longxi in china. In a research book done by Prof.Dongtonghe董同龢 from Taiwan in 1950s longxi 龙溪 was used as his research area for chiangchiu compare to jinjiang, xiamen and chao an.
sim,
If your seoson greeting is about sending free minnan books like your -LongHai fangyanzhi by Prof Chiu and Lim ( 2 volumes) to our house, then I will call this really a christmas gift.
