yi (pronounce 'ee' ) is the number one, in what context do you want to use it ? the word for number is 'hau ma' ( how ma ) but how you use it depends on the context in which you are using it..

try the dictionary associated with this site, it is excellent, the best I have found. Pingyin is mandarin using the roman alphabet but with slightly different phonetics eg the letter q is pronounced (ch ) and i (ee) so the mandarin word ( QI ) is pronounced ..........? you guessed it CHEE, see ? and...

LITTLE SISTER, here's one 'LING', litteraly means zero as in counting. my phone number for example is yao san qi wu ling ling wu ba jeo san qi.
and it's quite an easy name to say and sounds good, so we'll call you Ling (0)

This site has an excellent English-Chinese Dictionary. If you're looking for translations ( for tat's and so on )why not use it. It is impossible to directly translate names letter by letter into Chinese Characters, so don't try. Chinese Characters do not represent letters. You can try the syllable ...

I suggest you use the excellent english-chinese dictionary associated with this site, don't use 'The' it's not used in Chinese that way.

There is no chinese alphabet. a word or concept is expressed as a character or characters, so for example the first character for levi would be the chinese character for the chinese name Li, get it ? use the dictionary associated with this site to work it out. use pingyin.
