Anyone know waht "yuen yao" means?

緣由 (yuen4 yau4), meaning "reason" or "cause". but it doesn't strike me as a word you'd hear in conversation.

軟柔 (yuen5 yau4), kinda like "soft" or "gentle."

what's the context you heard the word in?

For origin and reason, should be 原 not 緣.
緣 has something to do with fate.
But it also sounds like 源油 fuel.
