Nimen hao!
I'm a student of sinology
our professor told us to explore 214 radicaks...
But I have a problem with 月 because I don't know why in some cases 肉 is written like 月?
The only thing I know that it doesn't have any etymological ground.
Could anybody answer me?
Thank You for your help!
Aga

The simplified rou/meat radical actually differs slightly to the yue/moon character. The rou/meat simplified radical has two slightly slanted dots instead of two horizontal lineow. However, it doens't always show clearly. Why? dunno.

You're only half way on your complete understanding 'bout written Chinese when've you got rid of all computerized fonts. People don't write the way characters appear on standard screen. We write fast and so the standard fonts deform. Maybe you can grab a Chinese guy's note book and try to figure what those things are. lol! You'll find it interesting. And don't forget to take a look at his face. Bad handwriters don't look so pround when you stare at stuff he's written. :D

In simplified chinese the meat radical is the same as the moon character. Why? I like minghuan's explanation the best. Did you understand it? Though you probably have found this answer already. It's been, what, three years?
