Even the young Ah bengs speak Mandarin nowadays From my obeservation most people born in late 70s can't speak dialects anymore. Majority born in early 70s still can converse. But the batches of S'poreans born around 1978 onwards can't.
There is still Bodman's "Spoken Amoy Hokkien" - pretty expensive, if you want the tapes with it (order it from spoken language services, google it for more information) - but I have just decided (well, a month ago), to boost my Hokkien again, after 1.5 years of Mandarin and Hokkien only - and that's the course I am using - the only course I am aware of that is in English ... enjoy.

Thanks a lot. Yes, back from my sabbatical BTW: should have said "Mandarin and Classical Chinese" not "Mandarin and Hokkien" - did not do anything on Hokkien for the last 1.5 years - but have been learning intensively for the last two months
