Did you mistype? 毛 means hair. Also, I've heard the mou pronunciation of this character.

sorry,hakka do say m hiau for 不懂 .晓得=懂事
无 can only has bu。毛= 莫袍切(b+o) is wendu bo along with monn.
maunn and mng for baidu.
I will type out the old text about 毛 means no later.

I see. so it's kind of 假借. It's like Cantonese invented 冇 to mean 無

All words starting with m- and n- have nasal endings, just as no words starting with b- and l- have nasal endings.

It is not 假借 but it is 俗語﹐maybe later minnan used it as a regular word.河朔 means 黃河以北的地方。

I don't know what Andrew trying to say but n,ng,m will surely have ann,oonn(nasal vowel) only.
n,ng,m cannot ended up with m,n,ng at the back.
