There are some crazy Hokkien experts there. Lui is widely accepted as a Hokkien/Chinese word with proper chinese character.

I have several close Cantonese friends, none of whom are particularly good teachers, and years of listening to their conversations hasn't gotten me very far since I have no foundation at all. So far, all I've picked up are ultra-basic conversational phrases.

It could just be a general thing people say that's not part of any language but just an expression that was developed and people found it was something that helped them express themselves.
