Hello,
I could use some help with four more characters (see: http://s5.postimage.org/3pju7y99j/img615.jpg), this time not becuse they are so complex, but because they are not so readable for me (copy of copy)
thanks for all the help, you are wonderful!
Elmer
Some more characters I have difficulties with
Re: Some more characters I have difficulties with
Gosh, you really know how to find the difficult ones, don’t you?
溪 khe1/khue1. It is interesting to see how all three names in that generation refer to some sort of natural water source.
峰 hong1.
𡹘 Two possible readings: tsai7 or khe2/khue2. No definition available. But again, if you look at all the names in that generation, they all have the 山 mountain radical in them. On that basis, my vote goes to khe2/khue2, as I suspect the person just wanted the sound from the character 啟 khe2/khue2.
𣔯 u2 or hO7. Again, observe the 木 wood radical in all the names in that generation.
I think you can forget about trying to find any trends in the definitions of the characters themselves, given the obvious pattern of using the same radical for all the names in a given generation. Just take the characters and sounds for what they are. Either that, or for whatever reason, the sound components of all the characters in the names, i.e. 由, 希, 啟, 峻, 峰, 代, 昆 and 品, had some meaning to him.

Re: Some more characters I have difficulties with
Well Mark, I am happy I asked and I greatly owe you, as I had trancripted just one of these characters right. It is certainly a puzzle. Sorry for the late thanks, I was away for work a couple of days. I have one more if you don't mind: http://s5.postimage.org/tgmu1pz6v/img616.jpg
The last two characters, can they be 焰 and 望? I came across the last one quite a few times during the genealogy.
Thanks,
Elmer

ha, thanx for all the help. I surely will post a few more characters I have difficulty with and I will show you the big genealogy once I am done!
