However it depends on where you want to go. <br><br>The trains are very cheap and so the transport around china is very cheap. For places to stay there is tons of Chinese people who would let you stay for free in exchange you chat to their daughters or sons in English. <br><br>However if you were do plan by yourself learning some Mandarin in really important because things will go wrong and being able to speak the language it important. <br><br>Go to shanghai or beijing first, take a bunch loads of Mandarin lessons and then travel around by yourselfs. The price will most likely be the same because of the Mandarin lessons but your experience will be more unique. <br><br>Also if you travel by yourself you will have to use your Mandarin more if you go with a tour you will let them talk for you.
