Hi Yisheng

I also had problem on tone names last time. After a while you will be familiar with them too.

Thanks for pointing out about 物 mi8 and 膜 mo8 (8 = 陽入). It will be more precise to say that I have never encountered -m, -n, -ng endings in 入 tones. For me, 麵 mi7 and 物 mi8 are 'mi' sound with different tones, but many experts say that mi8 has glottal stop and write it as mih8 or mi?8.

[%sig%]
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Tue Jul 13, 2004 1:51 pm

Hi my name is 陳端利 (Chen Duan Li in Mandarin). However, I'd prefer to use the Hokkien (like the Hokkien people in Singapore). Could someone please romanize the name or direct to a website that could do it for me? I know the first would be Tan, but I don't know how to romanize the remaining two characters. If someone is kind enough to romanize, could they please also state whether it is Singaporean/Malaysian-Hokkien, or Taiwanese-Hokkien

[%sig%]
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Mon Jul 12, 2004 1:26 am
